Young Chef of the Year
Once again, some of our budding young chefs took part in the Young Chef of the Year competition sponsored by the Oadby & Wigston Rotary club. There were 4 finalists as follows:
Joshua Spendilow started the two-hour session but unfortunately had to leave when he became unwell.
The Rotarians together with restaurant owner of 20 years Pradeep Popat judged the culinary delights. Pradeep commented that all the students had made a tremendous effort and that it was difficult to select a winner. He also stated that he would employ any of the students in his restaurants.
The brief for the competition was to produce a healthy two-course meal, main course and dessert for two people within a £10 budget and they had two hours to do it all including laying the table and washing up. Really quite a challenge!!
All the participants should be highly commended for their efforts though there can only be one winner.
1st place Natasha Fern
2nd place Patrycja Syzdlo
Natasha will now go forward to represent the college at the next stage of the competition which will be held in February at the Samworth Enterprise Academy. Congratulations Natasha.
