This week I caught up with ex-student Anesu Mutara. Anesu left the college in 2012 and has now crossed the big pond and settled in Los Angeles, California! He explained how hard he has been working over the last few years honing his skills as a dancer, singer and actor.
Anesu said “I recently got signed by a management company – International Artists PR & Talent Management, and have been busy doing rounds of commercial agent meetings so I can regularly audition for commercials. My manager has been sending me to a lot of red carpet events, which all have been great experiences for me”.
He has also been training with Nick Cooper, who is a well-known vocal coach and vocal producer in Los Angeles. In addition Anesu has been attending the Stella Adler: Art of Acting Studio, benefiting from working with notable acting coaches all of whom have incredible experience & knowledge about the craft. To complete his triple threat he trains at Millennium Dance Complex.
He said “I had the privilege of choreographing for some young dancers recently and then went on to dance with one of them for a couple of episodes on Lifetime TV’s “Dance Moms. Onstage, I recently played the character “Touchstone” who is charming but very much the joker in Shakespeare’s “As You Like It” and the honour of playing the characters Robert Sideway & Davy Collins in “Our Country’s Good” Directed by H. Richard Greene, which involved some heavy emotions”.
