You will have four practical sessions per fortnight with one theory lesson. The programme is designed to provide a varied and interesting selection of activities which require different skills and individual qualities.
Through the medium of PE there are opportunities to improve your level of skill and fitness, face challenges and overcome them. You will enjoy the activities and learn about your own strengths and weaknesses.
Values such as acceptable social and hygiene habits, team and self-discipline, and the appreciation of fine performances by others are all considered worthwhile. Above all, we hope that as many students as possible will develop or consolidate interests in sport or recreation as an important part of their future leisure time.
This course will also lead to Junior Sports Leaders award which is an accredited award (Sports Leaders UK) demonstrating leadership quality through the medium of sports related activities.
Students who select this course will need to have an interest in leadership. The requirements of a good candidate are somebody who can lead, be lead and act as part of a team. Students will be asked to plan, perform and evaluate their own and others performance as well as take part in a variety of activities whilst learning the act of leadership.
