Physical Education is an increasingly popular subject that provides opportunities for the whole spectrum of students at Wigston College. With the wide range of courses, excellent facilities and well motivated staff there are opportunities for all students to achieve their true potential. As a core subject, provision has been made to accommodate all students abilities and aspirations. This ranges from Core PE where no qualification is attained, through to GCSE PE, BTEC Awards for Level 2 and 3, Junior and Community Sports Leaders and AS/A2 qualifications. By offering such a wide range of courses, all students are able to capitalise on their academic or sporting strengths through whichever course is most suitable.
The college has a wide range of facilities including a high quality rubber crumb pitch, several grass pitches, a sports hall and a gym. These are used both within lessons to allow the effective delivery of a comprehensive programme of study, along with an extensive extra curricular activities programme. It is been the latter area that has recently developed considerably, with the school not only achieving considerable success but also providing additional opportunities for everyone to participate, succeed in and enjoy sport.
The department consists of enthusiastic, motivated and dedicated staff that are both well qualified and committed to ensuring every pupil achieves their potential in Physical Education.
