Higher Education Evening
Tuesday 14 June 2016
Year 12 students and their parents were able to get their plans for applying to university off to a flying start by attending an evening providing information and advice about Higher Education. Representatives from local universities gave presentations on Student Finance, Choosing the Right Course and University, and Student Life.
Responses from attendees were extremely positive, with everyone valuing the opportunity to find out more about the university application process and to listen to and ask questions of those with specialist knowledge. In particular, parents welcomed the chance to get to grips with the issue of student finance and they were reassured that their concerns about money matters were addressed.
Year 12 students will have further support and guidance this term and next, as they make decisions about courses and institutions, and work on their UCAS application form.
The internal deadline for most students completing their UCAS form and submitting it to Wigston College is 28th October. For Oxford and Cambridge universities, medicine, veterinary science and dentistry courses, the internal deadline is 30th September.
