Ex-student to cycle from Alaska to Argentina for ‘Wishes 4 Kids’

Preparations have finished and Chris leaves on September 28th for this mammoth journey!

Chris Mark visited the college this week and inspired our students to travel and utilise every opportunity that arises.  We had a little surprise for him though – Miss Cox announced that our college had decided to sponsor Chris and that all monies raised by the college would go towards his target.  Last year the college raised over £12,000 for various good causes.

Chris hopes to raise £20,000 for Wishes 4 Kids whilst he cycles from Alaska to Argentina.

He has chosen Wishes 4 Kids (an organisation which helps youngsters in Leicestershire who are terminally ill or have experienced traumas or abuse) because it was close to the heart of his sister, Laura Hulbert, who died aged 25. Laura was cycling home from work in November 2004 when she was hit by a car.

Chris will be camping each night (unless he has the offer of a bed and shower from users of couchsurfers.com who share their homes to travelers across the world) and surviving on energy bars and nuts.

Chris said, “I’ve set myself an ambitious target of raising £20,000, I am funding everything myself with the money I saved, so all money raised will go straight to the charity”.
