Wigston College School Uniform

As part of the Wigston Academies Trust Wigston College, in line with Wigston Academy, have a clear uniform policy which is part of the 11-18 ethos. However, there are some minor differences in the requirements to reflect the maturity of the young people. These are outlined below.

Trousers:
Trousers are to be plain black and of a formal, traditional style, made of standard school trouser fabric. The following are not allowed: jeans, trousers with rivets, trousers with low waist, trousers which are tight on the legs, leggings, trousers which are not full length, trousers which follow a current trend, cords, culottes, treggings, cargo style or trousers with large buckle or fashion accessories.

Skirts:
Skirts are to be plain black, knee-length, of a traditional style and made of standard school skirt fabric. The following are not allowed: lycra skirts, skater skirts, denim skirts, tight skirts, skirts with rivets or skirts which follow a current trend.

Shirts/blouses:
Shirts and blouses are to be plain white with no logos, frills or decoration. Polo shirts are not allowed. Shirts and blouses are to be worn tucked. They can be short or long sleeved and blouses must be appropriate for a school tie.

Sweaters:
Plain black V neck sweaters, these must be a knitted fabric, such as wool, cotton or blend. Sweat shirts and cardigans, jumpers and tank tops or items with zips or logos are not permitted. Year 11 Students will be supplied with a Wigston College badge to sew onto the V neck jumper.

Shoes:
These must be plain black, low-heeled shoes constructed in polishable material. Sandals and open toed shoes are not permitted.

Jewellery:
Students are allowed to wear minimal jewellery to school, a bracelet, a necklace, stud earrings and wrist watch. Ear lobe stretchers are not permitted. This ruling has been made on the grounds of health and safety. Body piercings of any kind on the face or body are not allowed. Wigston College will not accept responsibility for the security of jewellery. It is the College’s discretion on what is acceptable.

Makeup
Students are allowed to wear minimal makeup to College – light foundation and natural lash mascara. It is the College’s discretion on what is acceptable.

Hair Styles
Wigston College prefer hairstyles of a traditional design. Colouring is only allowed if it is of a single normal hair colour, although natural-colour highlights are acceptable. (No bright colours). Patterns, shaved heads, Mohicans, logos, coloured braiding, shaved patterns and tramlines are not permitted.
